Our story begins year 2002, in the city Phoenix, AZ. That is the year my parents opened their first bbq & soul food restaurant. From day one, they achieved a mass amount of popularity. One of the most popular and highly requested items was my mothers' peach cobbler! By 2007 we had three locations, one being located in Sky Harbor Int'l Airport. Even there, the peach cobbler would sell out daily. We could not keep them in stock! At that time we were just providing slices. My parents ended up shutting the family business down for good in 2011.
Queens of Cobbler as you know it was born in November of 2019. I guess you can say it was a light during a dark period. At the time, my mother (Verdie) had been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in July and she was currently undergoing chemo therapy treatment. During this treatment, she was having a lot of sleepless nights due to feeling physically ill. Considering her condition she was on a leave of work and thinking of ways to bring in a little more income. Well on one of these sleepless nights, she came up with the idea of selling the cobblers that were so popular once upon a time. I thought, "perfect!" And we set our minds to at least looking into it selling in our area. So we put everything together and began doing local deliveries here in San Jacinto, CA in November if 2019. We started to build a little buzz, however, the pandemic began shortly after and our plans were halted for what seemed like forever. So nothing moved for a year or so until August when my mothers twin sister (Vicki) was also diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer; and in September 2020 after I was laid of from my full time due to the pandemic. So now I really needed a way to supplement income.
So we began participating in a local Farmers' Market. And on our first day, the cobblers sold out! a few ppl recognized us or had heard of us but we were sure the hype was because we were new. But the buss kept growing! So much so that we went from doing three markets weekly to wanting to be more available to the demands of the public. So we embarked on our journey to find a home. We found our original location at 249 East Main Street in the heart of San Jacinto. It was bare when we acquired it and we built it up to a commercial kitchen ourselves. That was a proud moment lol and we were ready for the public, opening our doors in December of 2021.
From there we hit the ground running, doing everything we could to build our name and grow our small family business. She even took some to Wayne Brady on Let's Make a Deal when she got accepted to be a guest! Many of you heard of us from there and we are glad you made it. So we began shipping nationwide to be even more available but unfortunately, times were hard and life does not stop. The foot traffic and orders boomed and it unfortunately overwhelmed us and our capabilities so we had to complete what we had and that created inconsistencies on our part - and for that we apologize.
Our little bake shop was a pride and joy but unfortunately we had to close the door in July of 2023. And we have been quiet ever since. We do apologize for the disappearance. We had to take a step away and handle some real life things in order not to give up on our baby completely. Verdie is doing good and is cancer-free. Unfortunately my aunt Vicki's cancer did return and she is currently undergoing treatment again. We appreciate all the love, support and understanding. And we are happy to be back and providing the desserts you love again! We could not do this without y'all!
Our goal is to provide you, your friends & family with the best flavors. We do local deliveries, caterings, farmers markets, and special events! We are offering just the most popular flavors at this time but we still can do your favorites, just ask us! Please just give us a call or send us a text at (951) 306-2393. We hope to be shipping again soon also so, stay tuned! Thank you!
